Taking up most of the 8C’s front is a 6.26-inch IPS LCD panel, complete with a notch and a chin. With a resolution of 720×1520 pixels and a low pixel density of about 269ppi, it’s average at best. Sure, you can view web pages and watch videos just fine, but an HD display on a mid-range smartphone in 2018 is simply inexcusable.

Shruti Jaipuria of the Bangalore-based Maia Design Studio helmed the interiors of Toast & Tonic, has devised a striking feature for the walls and roof with the chipboard finish that stretches all through the ceiling and pillars of the restaurant. The eye takes in the marble floors inlaid with brass and wall surfaces treated with peanut shells to create texture–there’s synchronicity and symmetry in the visual palette, which continues with the furniture and seating (tan frames and buff upholstery for that chic touch).

The lip up front will clear a glass screen protector with no issues.

Ive visited the headquarters of Ideal Standard and Apple, and recognized the contrast in his tasks. In the case of the sink, “the form wasn’t following the function,” he told me. “The form was the function. There are cooling slots and vents on the housing, and those can be disconcerting as it looks like liquids can go right into the tablet’s interior. That’s not the case as the fan, which doesn’t mind a bit of water, is mounted inside a sealed "enclave" inside the tablet.

You’re not going to find a smooth-feeling glass back on the phone, or, indeed, most of the design bells and whistles other phones may have. That’s not entirely a bad thing, as the polycarbonate back is plenty sturdy and comfortable enough to hold in hand. The graphite black model I was provided looks…okay, but it’s certainly not going to win any awards for its good looks.

Once the helmets are painted and/or the decals are applied, they are sent through the automated clear coat booth, where the excellent Nolan “Hi-Brite” clear coat finish is applied.
