Deep, wide storage compartments in the lower door casings have been designed to accommodate 24oz beverage containers with ease. The center console provides additional storage behind the lower touchscreen – ideal for storing valuables away from view.

Private museums are mostly vanity projects. Few invent social spaces. It may be the ultimate tribute to Mr. Koolhaas and OMA to say that the Prada campus works. The plazas are poetic. The galleries are practical and varied.

As a case, the Live Case is above average. The dual-layer design is very nicely integrated, providing a nice two-tone look and a slim profile while still giving you two layers between your phone and wherever it ends up falling. The buttons are tactile, though they could stand to protrude from the case a bit more. The cutouts for the camera and fingerprint sensor are both pretty standard, and the one for the USB Type-C port is a little wider than other cases’. The lip up front is very minimal, so if you have a screen protector of any kind, it’ll scrape when the phone is put face-down. There’s a small ‘G’ embedded into the back of the case, just in case you forget what company made the case.

One afternoon in the studio, Ive sketched the Apple Watch as seen from the side, with the crown asymmetrical on two axes: nearer the top of the watch than the bottom, and nearer the face than the back. (There is also a more flush secondary button.) As an afterthought, he quickly drew the front of an iPod: a rectangle within a rectangle, and a circle within a circle. He pointed at the watch drawing. “It’s not for us to say if things are iconic,” he said, and then described it as a “very, very iconic view.” Ive explained that, had he centered the Digital Crown, the watch would be a quite different product. “It’s just literal. And you could say, ‘Why is that an issue?’ Well, if it’s literally referencing what’s happened in the past, the information about what it does is then wrong.” The crown rotates, which is reassuring, but it doesn’t wind the watch or adjust hands. The goal, Ive said, was to create “the strangely familiar.”

Unlike its siblings, the Covert 2 has buttons that are actually usable. They’re still slightly harder to press than they should be, but they’re tactile and don’t feel like complete crap. The cutouts for the fingerprint sensor, camera, and USB-C port are all accurate. I’m still confused, however, by the two circular holes at the bottom. Why do they exist?

No other cases on the market look like UAG’s. The back features a clear back with a honeycomb design that’s topped by a giant plastic bug-esque plastic piece and some massive UAG branding. I have the ‘Ash’ color, which features a slightly smoked back when compared to the clear ‘Ice.’ The corners are heavily reinforced for maximum shock resistance, and there are fake rubber screws on the back that don’t really do anything. There are also some plastic ridges on the side for added grip. This isn’t the type of case that I’d ordinarily buy, but I can certainly see the merit in the design. It’s rated for MIL-STD 810G drop resistance, so all this must come together to do something.

This trend is not limited to New York. According to Architectural Digest, mid-century modern and minimalism are both here to stay. That means sparse, modern decor; high, exposed ceilings; and almost no soft goods, such as curtains, upholstery, or carpets. These design features are a feast for the eyes, but a nightmare for the ears. No soft goods and tall ceilings mean nothing is absorbing sound energy, and a room full of hard surfaces serves as a big sonic mirror, reflecting sound around the room.
