Evidently, Nolan has a very good PR Dept. However, in the real world there are still quality problems with some Nolan helmets. My N104 Evo started to develop small chips almost immediately. At first, I thought I was not being careful enough. Now, the paint is simply flaking off. There is almost no bond between the paint and the polycarbonate. It was a beautiful helmet, but now looks like it has been used as a soccer ball. The US importer is about as useful as tits on a boar hog. Nolan needs to look into this. They are getting a bad reputation among my friends.

It may be a while before we see those long-lasting hydrogen-powered batteries in our iPhones. In the meantime, the options are bulky: pack your charging cord, carry a battery charger, or go the power case route.

There’s virtually nothing bad about the Fusion. Protection-wise, it excels thanks to its TPU frame. All four corners are concealed, and the lip on the front is enough to clear a glass screen protector. The optional colored frame makes the case look more premium than it really is. The clear back is actually hard plastic, and it avoids the infamous rainbow effect that plagues so many cases here. However, it is a little bit of a fingerprint magnet.

There is hope, however. Inspired by the need for new solutions in tricky spaces such as open offices, industrial design for acoustics has evolved dramatically in recent years. A whole new slate of ceilings, walls, and even acoustic furniture has become available. Quiet doesn’t need to mean ugly anymore. That means choosing “good” design over the comfort and well-being of patrons is no longer a suitable excuse for restaurateurs. It’s time to take loud off the menu.

I usually don’t purchase manufacturer cases due to their high prices, but this one is so different that it might just be worth picking it up. The texture is courtesy of a polyester and nylon knit, and the polycarbonate core underneath keeps things strong and lightweight. The inside is lined with microfiber, allowing for a more premium appearance and a smaller chance of scratches from dust and other particles trapped within the case. This microfiber matches the power button, which is a nice touch.

The merger of fine and casual dining seems to show no signs of abating. As a result, even moderately quiet restaurants have become few and far between. Things have gotten so bad, there’s even an app for helping potential diners find quieter places to eat. The culinary establishment once aimed to dismantle the stuffiness and high cost of dining out by blurring the line between casual and fine dining, eliminating classist dress codes, and make dining a more collective experience. But ironically, that democratization of eating out has produced a new and more hidden tyranny: making people tolerate unhealthy, distracting noise for good food—and then duping them into spending more, drinking more (along with the risk of vulnerable situations that can result from alcohol), and shouting over the din to socialize. By comparison, the worst thing that could happen at one of the upscale establishments of old was using the wrong fork or running afoul of the dress code.
