In its Google Store listing’s photos, the Air Jacket looks pretty sharp. It paints the picture of a barely-there case. It turns out that’s true, but not in a good way. The case is entirely made of polycarbonate, a hard plastic material that is not at all ideal to make an entire case out of. It’s fairly scratch-resistant, but that’s about the only thing going for it. As you might imagine, it’s quite slippery. And given the nature of the material, I honestly think the case could crack/shatter with a hard-enough drop. It also feels like it could pop off, which is never a good feeling. Keep in mind that the bottom of the case is exposed, too, so there’s another potential issue. Oh, and the lip will not save anything.

Now, for a mid-range smartphone, this hardware should be more than enough, and indeed it is. For the most part, I found overall usage experience with the 8C to be quite good during my review period. Apps launch fast enough, split-screen multitasking works as expected, and even PUBG Mobile runs fine (albeit at the lowest settings). There are no issues as far as the core spec sheet is concerned.

The middle-floor galleries end up feeling the nicest, proportion-wise. But the whole building is one narrative. As Federico Pompignoli, OMA’s project manager, has said, the tower is “an attempt at the white cube defying its own boringness.”

The tables are made of birch wood and marble, and leather is used extensively on furniture, with minute attention paid to details of flaps and tufting. Crate wood panelling on the bar front, brightly coloured tiled floors, textured glass, embossed ceilings, and mild steel exposed to a natural rusting process, all evoke a feeling of comfort and timelessness.
