The appearance of the world that these photographs document is shaped by two things. Digital architectural tools have enabled a drift from a domestic floorplan characterized by perfect rectangles to one in which rooms are often trapezoidal or completely irregular. The increasing complexity of the resulting measurements is handled by the software, and the 3D representation is so easy to zoom, to rotate, that an overview remains available to the designer even as the spatial relations become more entangled. Secondly, the extraordinary degree of standardization in these spaces, the standardization of measurements, the conformity of fittings and of colors, means that the spaces look continuous in these photographic portraits. You can infer these interiors from the plan alone, down to the position and shape of the door knob. Even as the plan becomes more nuanced, the interior elevations are virtually extruded.

If you’re looking for protection and relatively good looks on a budget, you may be considering Caseology’s Legion to install on your shiny new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL. Like its very noble-sounding name suggests, it’s a strong, protective case. It’s also pretty good-looking, though it isn’t without a few minor flaws.

The power cord that comes with Canvas is a great deal more streamlined than the one you get with Aurora, which includes a big brick in the middle and makes hiding it a little difficult. But the downside to this updated design is it supports far fewer panels out of the box. If you’re planning a large installation of 40-50 panels, you’re going to need two of these cables to make it work. Nanoleaf is working on selling more capable chargers so you can power more panels on a single panel, but it’s not something you can do right this second. And even then, it’s not the kind of limitation Nanoleaf explains particularly well in its documentation. It’s the kind of thing people are going to find out the hard way, which is not a great way to support the people spending the most on your products.

Over the course of my review run, I found the imaging performance of the 8C to be disappointing. Even in well-lit conditions, photos from the dual-lens primary camera setup come out to be vastly-overexposed, with details in brighter spots of the scene getting completely lost. Turning on HDR doesn’t help things either. The ‘Portrait mode’ generally works fine, allowing you to adjust the background blur even after the photo has been captured.

The Bevel is a good case, period. It’s protective, has a unique design, and best of all, it’s cheap. It comes in three colors: Clear, Rose Gold Crystal, and Smoke Black. If you’re on a budget or just want something new, the Bevel is a fantastic choice.
