Was Svizzera 240 a critical work? Unlike many of the national pavilions in the Biennale, the Swiss Pavilion did not assert its criticality. It also has to be admitted that the joy the installation evoked contained an enjoyable touch of regression; of suddenly arriving in a kitchen and discovering that one had the perspective of a five-year-old child. But a work that offers the pleasures of regression does so temporarily, and once it recedes, can leave a residue of insight. At the entry of the pavilion was not one door, but two. The other door, left open, showed a kind of trompe l’oeil, a false room that looked as if it had been built to correspond with a naively drawn perspective, as if by a child. Pleasures—even infantile pleasures—are not necessarily incompatible with criticality. In the 1960s, Christian Enzensberger translated Alice in Wonderland, and later Alice through the Looking Glass, from English into German. He could not help but translate them as political allegories, and this was how they were received: both as children’s stories and as political stories. The Red Queen, the White Rabbit, all the figures appeared in post-war Germany with an extraordinarily different valence than their role in Victorian England. And Alice, sometimes she grows to the point that she dominates her world, and sometimes when she shrinks, she threatens to disappear within it. Alice is pure potential. Some arguments are made best simply by demonstrating them as physical truths.

It gets worse when you put the case on your phone. There are no buttons, only cutouts. This is fine when executed properly, like on the Spigen Thin Fit, but Bellroy has made the phone’s buttons a royal pain to use by literally just putting holes where the buttons on the phone are. Additionally, the case itself feels like it has to stretch to actually fit the phone. Again, not confidence-inspiring. From what I can tell, the only aspect of this case that can be considered ‘premium’ is the microfiber lining inside, but that’s minuscule in the grand scheme of things.

About the only things that remain the same on the bus are the ceiling and wall panels on the interior. They will soon feature the Cowboys’ blue and silver, like the overhead bins. The seats were reupholstered in Cowboys colors in October.

The Lexan EXL also works nicely with Nolan’s use of the environmentally-conscious water-based paint and clear-coating preparations.

The entry level model features Suedecloth and Luxtec upholstery with distinctive twin-needle stitching. S and SE models upgrade to high-quality, perforated grained leather while the R-Dynamic SE upgrades to sporty perforated grained leather with Suedecloth bolsters. Active vanes for the lower cooling aperture remain closed during the engines’ warm up phase, allowing it to reach operating temperature more quickly. But the vanes also close in conditions when additional cooling is no longer required – such as a steady-state cruise – which also reduces drag. Apertures in the front bumper direct air around the front wheels to reduce turbulence, contributing to further drag reductions.

That’s because every aspect of a building’s design impacts the way it sounds: how the HVAC system is routed, the kind of wall insulation, the thickness of windows, and even how the electrical outlets are sealed. It’s a fussy, nuanced effort that’s inseparable from the architecture and construction of the space itself. A restaurant or shop that’s loud because the ceilings are too high or because there’s nothing separating kitchen or bar noise from areas for table seating has space-planning problems. They can’t be fixed by hanging some fiberglass panels to dampen the noise.
