During my review run, the fully-juiced Honor 8C easily lasted me up to two days at a time. The daily usage involved an hour or so of video streaming, a couple of voice calls, some music playback, and constant incoming notifications from a bunch of apps, all with automatic brightness and Wi-Fi/Cellular data always turned on. The bundled charger can top-up a completely-drained battery in about two and a half hours, which is alright, given that there’s no fast-charging support.

The branding on the clear back is a little aggressive for my tastes, but it could be worse. All in all, I’m not a huge fan of the way the case looks, but I can see how it’d appeal to some.

For starters, the main selling point of the case – the leather – feels like cardboard. If someone on the street randomly handed me this, I’d think it were faux leather. It’s rock-hard, and there appears to only be a thin layer of it. Adding onto the crappy feel is an extremely cheap-feeling black frame that is the opposite of confidence-inspiring. The bottom is left wide open, and the lip on the front is almost nonexistent.

There was a little drawing of something that may have been a latch and, in tall, skinny script, the words “pretension” and “smart.” On another page—Apple’s competitors may do with this what they like—Ive seemed to have written the word “Airbug.”
