Ive told me that, since childhood, he has been “consumed with work.” It’s unrewarding to question him about the movies, books, and night clubs of his youth, although at some point he acquired an abiding taste for dance music, and he has since become friends with John Digweed, the British d.j., and the members of Massive Attack. (He is also a friend of Yo-Yo Ma.) In the summer of 1987, midway through college, he married Heather, who was studying English literature at Newcastle University.

In its Google Store listing’s photos, the Air Jacket looks pretty sharp. It paints the picture of a barely-there case. It turns out that’s true, but not in a good way. The case is entirely made of polycarbonate, a hard plastic material that is not at all ideal to make an entire case out of. It’s fairly scratch-resistant, but that’s about the only thing going for it. As you might imagine, it’s quite slippery. And given the nature of the material, I honestly think the case could crack/shatter with a hard-enough drop. It also feels like it could pop off, which is never a good feeling. Keep in mind that the bottom of the case is exposed, too, so there’s another potential issue. Oh, and the lip will not save anything.
Other aspects of the case are great as well. The buttons are very tactile, just as they should be. The cutouts for everything are nothing special, but they’re well-designed and don’t intrude on anything. There’s even a lanyard holder, though nobody outside of Asia uses them and you’ll have to buy it separately. Branding is restricted to some small ‘Ringke’ text on the bottom right of the back. I really don’t have much to complain about here.
“Because of this we’re seeing a trend toward maximizing the usability of the garage for more than just vehicles and yard equipment," by adding storage systems and other amenities.
This has been Mr. Koolhaas’s mantra. It is reflected in a foundation that’s neither a preservation project nor a tear-down-and-build-new venture. Its mode is bricolage. More is more. Both is better.
From the east, the elevation presents a slim, unadorned, milk-white concrete block, nine stories high, punctured by loggias — a signpost, like the traditional village bell tower, rising above a low, scruffy neighborhood.
Team members work twelve hours a day and can’t discuss work with friends. Each project has a lead designer, but almost everyone contributes to every project, and shares the credit. (Who had this or that idea? “The team.”) Ive describes his role as lying between two extremes of design leadership: he is not the source of all creativity, nor does he merely assess the proposals of colleagues. The big ideas are often his, and he has an opinion about every detail. Team meetings are held in the kitchen two or three times a week, and Ive encourages candor. “We put the product ahead of anything else,” he said. “Let’s say we’re talking about something that I’ve done that’s ugly and ill-proportioned—because, believe you me, I can pull some beauties out of the old hat. . . . It’s fine, and we all do, and sometimes we do it repeatedly, and we have these seasons of doing it—”
Houstonia readers’ interests this year seemed to align with market trends, as some of our most popular real estate stories involved buying a home post-Harvey and 100 Carnarvon Drive, the ultimate in luxury real estate. Two of our guides—March’s Top Neighborhoods and November’s Architecture A-Z—also topped the list, as did a whole slew of virtual home tours, proving one thing true in 2018: Y’all really like to see how other people live.

The lower touchscreen is integrated within the center console and manages features including the climate control and Terrain Response functions1. To make operation as easy and intuitive as possible there are no moving images and no complex menus – the touchscreen provides direct inputs to seat temperature controls, for example.
The Xplore L10 is designed to guard against dust and liquids getting inside, something that’s most easily accomplished with as few external ports and openings as possible. However, some onboard connectivity is needed in a tablet to provide functionality in the field, and Xplore has always offered a balance of onboard and docking connectivity. The L10 platform is no exception and offers generous connectivity for a rugged tablet. Below you can see the hard handle version of the Xplore L10, the XPAD L10, from the front and all four sides:
