The living room at 1640-1641 Fairfield Beach Road opens to a great room with a coffered ceiling, a stone fireplace and Brazilian cherry floors.

We were in Ive’s black Bentley, which is as demure as a highly conspicuous luxury car can be. The hood barely sloped, and it met the car’s front end at a tightly curved corner that mirrored the iPhone 6 in Ive’s left hand. The appearance of the world that these photographs document is shaped by two things. Digital architectural tools have enabled a drift from a domestic floorplan characterized by perfect rectangles to one in which rooms are often trapezoidal or completely irregular. The increasing complexity of the resulting measurements is handled by the software, and the 3D representation is so easy to zoom, to rotate, that an overview remains available to the designer even as the spatial relations become more entangled. Secondly, the extraordinary degree of standardization in these spaces, the standardization of measurements, the conformity of fittings and of colors, means that the spaces look continuous in these photographic portraits. You can infer these interiors from the plan alone, down to the position and shape of the door knob. Even as the plan becomes more nuanced, the interior elevations are virtually extruded.

One of the advantages of a molded polycarbonate shell is that all of the vent openings, the eye port and various assembly holes needed for mounting the face shield and other parts are completed and finished as part of the molding process.

Meyers aimed to do several things with the renovations. Initially he wanted to bring in a contemporary feel to the space. With help from his friends, Meyers took out the worn front barn doors and replaced them with large, glass, garage-style doors. The applewood was sanded, varnished, and set up as the bar top. The remaining wood adorned the cabinets and shelves behind the bar. They brought brewing equipment to a small glass room in the back of the first floor, so guests could watch them try out new ciders.

A row of capacitive switches is positioned below the rotaries to control maximum A/C and defrost settings, plus Dynamic Stability Control and Hill Descent Control functions. When not in use, these icons are illuminated in white, and will switch to amber when engaged.

Long story short: the Tough Armor is a great case. It’s virtually flawless aside from the finish getting a little too grimy too quickly. The kickstand is something few other cases have, for whatever reason. The Tough Armor costs $16.99 for the Pixel 2 and $17.99 for the 2 XL. To get the gunmetal finish (I have the black) which I’d imagine would hide fingerprints better, you’ll need to pony up an extra dollar. The price is on the high end for Spigen, but it’s still very reasonable.

After the decals are applied, the helmets go through an automated paint booth to have the Nolan “Hi-Brite” clear coat finish applied:
